Roland has released Melody Flip, its first generative AI music tool, as a plug-in for digital audio workstations. Instead of producing a complete song from one prompt, it gives producers access to roughly 250 genre-based Palettes containing themed musical ideas. The launch brings a major music-technology company into AI-assisted composition while keeping the creator inside a conventional DAW workflow.
ElevenMusic introduced Composer, a song editor that turns verses, hooks, bridges, and other sections into separately editable blocks. Creators can begin with lyrics, an existing track, a prompt, or a blank page, then change lyrics, tempo, key, or section length and regenerate one part while leaving the rest of the track unchanged.
Alibaba has opened HappyShrimp 1.0 in beta, turning a written prompt into a finished song with melody, arrangement, lyrics and vocals. The company also announced a collaboration with Taihe Music Group for artist co-creation and content development, placing the new model alongside established AI music generators while leaving the partnership's recording-licensing scope unspecified.
Suno launched Studio 2.0, adding MIDI support, a beta AI chat bar, advanced stem separation, and new audio effects and automation. The browser-based workstation gives Premier subscribers more control over notes, arrangement, sound design, and multitrack exports, moving Suno beyond prompt-only song generation. Suno also says Studio exports will remain outside the download limits being introduced for its other plans.
Suno will introduce download limits on September 3: Pro users get 20 downloads a month, Premier users 60, and free users seven lifetime downloads for personal use only. Additional downloads will be sold, while projects downloaded through Suno Studio remain unlimited for Premier users. The policy materially changes how subscribers export generated songs, although creation credits and in-platform playback remain separate from download allowances.
Music Business Worldwide reports that Suno has brought Voices to its iOS and Android apps, letting users record or upload vocals and generate new songs in that voice. The feature, first introduced with Suno v5.5, is now available in a limited form on free plans, while Pro and Premier subscribers retain unlimited access. The mobile rollout removes the previous need to configure a voice on desktop.
