Independent verdict
Eleven Music v2 combines full-song generation with detailed documented controls: section editing, custom lyrics, audio-reference paths, stems, and an API. Three current actual-use sources report usable structure, vocals, and prompt control, but also transition seams, long-form drift, rough spots, pronunciation issues, and weaker results on some complex arrangements. The current US$6 Starter entry price is straightforward; actual value and commercial rights are less simple because credits are shared and download, streaming, media, and reseller permissions vary by plan. AIMUSIC.GUIDE did not generate music for this review.
What Eleven Music offers
ElevenLabs documents Music v2 as a system for complete vocal and instrumental tracks with song structures, section editing, custom lyrics, and durations of up to five minutes. Audio-reference and upload workflows also appear in the current product family. Those workflows span three named surfaces—ElevenCreative, ElevenMusic, and ElevenAPI—so a capability documented for one surface should not be assumed to work identically in another.
That distinction matters for this review. Official documentation establishes that the features exist, but it is not proof of output quality, plan access, processing speed, language coverage, or export reliability. AIMUSIC.GUIDE did not register, generate, or download music. The assessment below synthesizes current official pages and attributed third-party actual-use evidence.
Sound quality looks capable, not uniformly polished
The three current actual-use sources point to useful output with visible limits. AIToolBlaze reports workable short-form control, alongside audible transition seams and long-form drift. Sonetho reports stronger balance, vocals, noise control, and prompt adherence for Music v2 than for Music v1, while finding that some complex structures and genre-specific results still trailed its Suno comparison. DevelopersIO's professional API test completed three disclosed compositions and found some rough spots plus possible Japanese mispronunciation.
These reports support a cautious expectation rather than a quality winner. AIToolBlaze and Sonetho both disclose commercial relationships and cannot corroborate one another on their own. DevelopersIO is a different-family professional test with a more reproducible method, but it covers three short API outputs rather than a repeated or blinded long-form listening study. The current evidence therefore identifies recurring strengths and weaknesses without proving consistency at scale.
The strongest evidence concerns creative control
ElevenLabs documents section editing, custom lyrics by song section, structural guidance, audio references, and programmatic generation. DevelopersIO's disclosed API workflow successfully used JSON composition plans to control sections, duration, style, and negative style. AIToolBlaze and Sonetho also report useful prompt and structural control in consumer-facing work.
Control still has limits. AIToolBlaze heard seams during a genre transition and drift in longer material. Sonetho found that Custom mode repeated a verse to reach a requested structure, and complex arrangements were not uniformly successful. Section-level editing is meaningful workflow evidence, but it is not a guarantee that every structural instruction, pronunciation, or transition will land cleanly.
Workflow depends on the product surface
The official product family separates ElevenCreative, ElevenMusic, and ElevenAPI. ElevenMusic accepts lyric, loop, or voice-recording inputs, while ElevenAPI documents audio-reference, upload, and structured composition paths. The current best-practices guide also describes separating generated music into stems from a track's download menu.
The available third-party evidence covers both consumer and API paths, but it does not close every operational question. DevelopersIO demonstrates a successful end-to-end API request and output flow. AIToolBlaze reports a first-run model-selection issue and slower mobile generation. No current source establishes uptime, export completion rates, support responsiveness, exact stem count and format, stem quality, or identical access across all three surfaces. Free users also cannot download under the current Music plan table.
Pricing is simple at entry, harder in use
The current pricing page lists a Free plan with Music and 10,000 shared monthly credits, while Starter is listed at US$6 for actual monthly billing. Those are subscription facts, not a fixed cost per song. Music draws from a credit pool shared with other ElevenLabs products, and the effective cost of an accepted track depends on length, retries, edits, and the user's other credit use.
Plan rights also change the practical value. The current model-specific table requires attribution and prohibits download and streaming on Free. Starter removes the attribution requirement and permits limited downloads but does not add streaming. Creator and higher self-serve plans add streaming, while Enterprise has a separately scoped Music grant. A low entry price should therefore not be treated as proof of the best value for every publishing workflow.
Commercial use and rights vary by plan
The Music Model-Specific Terms control generation, download, streaming, media, attribution, eligibility, reseller, and library permissions. At least one bounded commercial-use path exists, including attributed media use on Free and broader paid-plan paths. Self-serve media use still excludes film, television, radio, and Studio Games, and reseller or music-library uses remain prohibited or custom.
The current EEA and non-EEA base terms materially match in saying that, as between the user and ElevenLabs, the user retains rights in Input and Output. Users must have the necessary input rights, outputs may be similar to other users' outputs, and users grant ElevenLabs a perpetual, irrevocable, nonexclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, sublicensable Content license. Its current evidence is strongest around control and documented workflow breadth.
